Little Grey Cells Club Founder, Tim Healey unpacks the origins and aspirations of the Little Grey Cells Club.

In 2022 I began a series of interviews with the most senior marketers that I could reach in the UK. It is a series that I continue to this day, and I believe it is a privilege to learn from each of these extraordinary marketing leaders. The interviews still appear every Monday in The Drum.

During the interviews, I recognised a commonality that recurred frequently whilst in conversation with Chief Marketing Officers and Marketing Directors: ‘It can be lonely at the top.’

When you are running a considerable team of talented marketers – where do you go for advice, reassurance or just a healthy conversation about an aspect of marketing? 

The need for a community like the Little Grey Cells Club became apparent. If we could bring together the most forward-looking senior marketers – industry leaders eager to acquire the knowledge that will help to improve their marketing – then together we can troubleshoot the challenges facing the modern marketing business leader.

We launched in November 2023, and we haven’t looked back. The feedback from the early members of the community to those who have joined recently continues to be life-affirmingly positive.

So how can you get involved? Simply get in touch or register for our events. Our breakfast briefings happen 4 times a year – at venues ranging from BAFTA to The House of Lords, bringing together up to 100 top tier marketers.

We have our annual Chief Marketing Officer event on the beach at Cannes Festival of Creativity. Event director Fiona Cullen runs our ‘OM Sessions’ (dinners for up to 20 female marketers). Last but not least – we have our accountability circles – monthly meetings for groups of up to 5 senior marketers.
