Dear Ken Cheng: Will An Affair Boost My Business?

Our resident corporate Agony Uncle, CEO Ken Cheng, tackles business challenges – so you don’t have to.

Dear Ken,

Big time fan. I would love to have an affair be caught on camera to boost my company’s profile, but I just can’t bring myself to cheat on my wife. How do I get over my strong moral conscience?

James, Sevenoaks

Dear James,

Let me start by saying that I think marriage is the most important thing in your life – that’s why I’ve had 3 of them.

And what are the most important building blocks of a marriage? Trust, respect, and forgiveness.

Trust: your wife should trust that if you have an affair, there would be a good business reason behind it.

Respect: after you’ve had an affair, your wife should respect the business acumen behind such a decision, as well as the bravery for you to put yourself out there that way.

Forgiveness: your wife should forgive you no matter how much you have messed up by having an affair.

I’m going to be honest. The fact you’re worried about how your wife would feel is a major red flag. Not everything you do is about her, and if she makes this affair about her, that is textbook narcissistic behaviour.

This goes much deeper than love or marriage. This about boosting your profile the only effective way there is left: a massive public scandal.

It’s 2025. Regular advertising is dead. Building your brand conventionally is long gone. There is only one thing left: have multiple affairs.

Honestly, the fact that you are even worrying about this shows me that you love your wife deeply, and you’re having the affair for her. That should be enough.

And if it isn’t, then sometimes some people simply cannot be pleased.

Go forth, have an affair.
