Our resident corporate Agony Uncle, CEO Ken Cheng, tackles business challenges – so you don’t have to
Dear Ken Cheng,
What is 6-7? My co-workers keep saying it and I have no idea.

Ken Cheng:
“6-7” is the most powerful statement you can make at any point in business.
A client offers you a bad deal? Say “6-7, 6-7” and walk out of the room.
An employee shows up late? “6-7, 6-7” then fire them.
I have no idea what it means but it is edged into my lexicon.
I hear it on repeat in my mind and feel compelled it say it at every point.
I think it’s something to do with salary. Being on 67k a year is the minimum amount of money that any single person can live off. Anyone below that is equivalent to a serf or a medieval peasant.
I will not listen to someone who makes anything £66,999 or below. I once went on a date with someone and after I pushed them to reveal their salary, they eventually told me it was only £63k.
What do you think I did? I said “6-7, 6-7” and immediately walked out of the restaurant without paying.
That is 6-7.
People absolutely hate me saying it, but they’re all probably on 40k a year.
